Mycenaean Greece

Mycenaean Greece was the civilization of the Iliad: warrior kings in walled citadels who sailed against Troy. Its palaces at Mycenae and Pylos kept the first Greek writing. It collapsed about 1050 BCE in the Bronze Age catastrophe.
