Massachusetts mother found shot dead in her kitchen; her adult son arrested in Vermont
Andria Hanafin, 49, was found shot to death in the kitchen of her home in Reading, Massachusetts, and her 22 year old son Ryan Hanafin was arrested in Vermont as a fugitive of justice. The son, described as a licensed gun owner, was taken into custody after authorities linked him to his mother's killing.
Police found Andria Hanafin dead of a gunshot wound in the kitchen of her Reading home this week. Investigators quickly focused on her son, 22 year old Ryan Hanafin, who authorities say was a licensed gun owner.
Ryan Hanafin was located in Vermont and arrested as a fugitive of justice, clearing the way for his extradition back to Massachusetts to face charges. The Middlesex County district attorney's office has not publicly disclosed a motive, and the investigation is continuing.
The killing has shaken Reading, a quiet suburb north of Boston where a mother killed in her own kitchen is the kind of news that stops the town. No additional suspects are being sought.
