Five dead in apparent murder suicide at home in Douglas, Georgia
Five people are dead in what investigators are calling an apparent domestic murder suicide at a home in the Touchton Woods neighborhood of Douglas, Georgia. Police responded to an active shooter 911 call around 11:09 p.m. Friday and found four adults dead inside; a fifth person died later at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Officers arrived at the Douglas home late Friday night after a 911 caller reported an active shooter. Inside, they found four adults dead from gunshot wounds. A fifth person, critically wounded, was taken to Coffee Regional Medical Center, where they died.
Investigators with the Coffee County sheriff's office are calling the killings an apparent domestic murder suicide involving family members. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The victims' identities had not been publicly confirmed by Saturday, and investigators had not released details of the circumstances that led to the shooting. Douglas, a city of about 11,000 in southeast Georgia's Coffee County, rarely sees violence on this scale.
