Anthropic public filing shows $16.29 billion in half year revenue and a first operating profit

News story

Anthropic made its S-1 prospectus public on Monday ahead of a Nasdaq listing under the symbol ANT. Revenue reached 16.29 billion dollars in the six months to June 30, up from 1.16 billion a year earlier, as of October 28, and the company posted its first operating profit, 974 million dollars, in the second quarter. Its reported net loss of 80.7 billion dollars comes mostly from noncash accounting charges on convertible notes. No share count or price range has been set.

Anthropic opened its books to the public on Monday, and the filing gives investors their first full look inside a frontier AI lab.

Revenue reached 16.29 billion dollars in the six months to June 30, against 1.16 billion in the same period a year earlier and 4.59 billion for all of 2025, as of October 28. Most of the half year total arrived in the second quarter, when revenue hit 11.6 billion dollars and the company posted an operating profit of 974 million dollars, the first in its history. Adjusted operating income for the half was 1.6 billion dollars. Against those figures sits a reported net loss of 80.7 billion dollars, which the company attributes largely to noncash changes in the fair value of its convertible notes, an accounting charge that grows as the company value rises rather than money spent.

The spending side is as large as the revenue. AI infrastructure spending reached 9 billion dollars in the first half of 2026 against 7.3 billion across all of 2025, and the filing discloses an agreement to spend up to 120.5 billion dollars with SpaceX AI unit through 2029 among compute commitments worth hundreds of billions in total. About one fifth of revenue came from two customers. The share structure keeps control with the founders and a trust after the listing. The company will trade on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol ANT. It has not set a share count or a price range, and press reports put investor valuations near 1.5 trillion dollars, down from roughly 2 trillion a week earlier.

The filing has already moved the rest of the market. Chip stocks rallied for two days after it appeared, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 3.6 percent on Tuesday. The prospectus is being read as a test of whether investors will keep funding AI at this scale. Global AI investment is forecast at 2.7 trillion dollars in 2026, according to Gartner. Microsoft and Alphabet report earnings on Wednesday and Amazon follows this week, and their results will be judged against the standard Anthropic filing just set: revenue growing at a pace almost no company this size has matched, bought with spending almost no company has matched either. This report describes the filing and market reaction. It is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
