A gunman kills a woman at Citibank's Tampa complex and is shot dead by a security guard, with about 3,200 employees on site
A man shot and killed a woman in an outdoor courtyard at the Citibank Center near Tampa on Wednesday, then went into the complex cafeteria, where an armed Citibank security guard shot him dead, Reuters reported. The Hillsborough County sheriff said 911 calls came in at 12:11 p.m. Eastern and the guard engaged the man at 12:15 p.m. About 3,200 employees were on site, and the sheriff said he believed the attack was targeted. The toll is two dead as of November 4.

The calls started at 12:11 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday. A man had shot a woman in an outdoor courtyard at the Citibank Center, the bank's complex near Tampa, and she died of her wounds. He then went into the cafeteria, where an armed Citibank security guard confronted him at 12:15 p.m. and shot him dead, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister told reporters.
About 3,200 employees were on the site when the shooting started. Chronister said 365 deputies responded to the complex. He said he believed the attack was targeted, which points away from a random shooting at the workforce as a whole, but the sheriff's office had not released the names of the man or the woman, or said what connected them, as of Wednesday afternoon.
The guard's shot ended the attack four minutes after the first calls. No other injuries had been reported in the coverage available on Wednesday afternoon. The investigation is the sheriff's office's, and the identities and the motive are the next facts it has to give.
