None of Colorado's 14 ballot measures has been called, and the six amendments that need 55 percent all run below that bar in the count

News story

None of Colorado's 14 statewide ballot measures has been called as of 9:30 p.m. Colorado time, and the Associated Press lists the measures it is tracking as too early to call. In the Secretary of State's 8:04 p.m. update, the six constitutional amendments that need 55 percent to pass all ran below that line: Amendment 81 on reporting charges to federal immigration authorities at 44.3 percent yes, Amendment 82 on a right to natural gas at 45.3, Amendment 83 on a right to hunt and fish at 44.0, Amendment 84 on mail ballot identification at 35.9, Amendment 85 on plain language ballot questions at 50.2 and Amendment 86 on redistricting at 46.1. Amendment 87, the graduated income tax, needs only a majority and ran at 50.7 percent yes.

The propositions pass on a simple majority, and the same Secretary of State update put five of them above the line and one below. Proposition 133, which imposes life without parole for child sex trafficking, ran strongest at 61.3 percent yes. Proposition NN, which lets the state keep revenue for K-12 education and children's programs, ran at 55.4 percent. Proposition 132, which raises fentanyl penalties, ran at 52.2, Proposition 134, which sets school sports teams by biological sex, at 51.7, and Proposition 135, which bans gender related surgery for minors and bars public funds for it, at 51.1. Proposition 136, which would cap the state income tax rate at 4.4 percent, ran below the line at 46.8 percent yes. No figure for Proposition 137, the sporting goods sales tax for conservation and wildfire work, had posted in that update.

Later Associated Press counts, at about 70 percent of the estimated vote, pointed the same way. On Amendment 81, no votes led 1,092,033 to 881,820. On Amendment 84, no votes led 1,259,473 to 716,857. On Amendment 85, yes votes led 989,799 to 971,486, a lead that still falls short of the 55 percent the amendment needs. On Amendment 87, yes votes led 993,357 to 972,953. On Proposition 134, yes votes led 1,020,016 to 939,011. On Proposition 136, no votes led 1,024,960 to 912,620. All of those figures are as of 9:30 p.m. Colorado time. Counting continues tonight, and none of these measures is called.
