Flavio Bolsonaro Speaks Publicly for the First Time After Leaving Brazil
Flavio Bolsonaro has spoken publicly for the first time since leaving Brazil, explaining in a live address why he left and what he plans to do next.
He said the decision came on the Monday after the election. He had gone to visit his father, President Jair Bolsonaro, who is under house arrest, on a 30 minute visit as a lawyer. As the visit ended, federal police officers were waiting at the door. Outside the house he was served with a decision from Alexandre de Moraes, issued minutes after the election results were announced, seizing his passports and barring him from leaving Brazil.
He said his father, with tears in his eyes, told him he already knew what the order was meant to do. Flavio said he told his father that God is in command of everything and that he was prepared.
Flavio said he did not leave Brazil. He left for Brazil. From abroad, with his wife Fernanda and his two daughters with him, he said he can speak with more freedom, keep an active voice, and go on leading. He said he lost to the system, not to his opponent, and he pointed to the nearly 60 million votes he won. He said he is ready to run for president again, and not in 2030, but before that.
